Background:
Grainthorpe School is a popular and successful village school in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, about 8 miles north-east of Louth. There are currently 62 children on roll, divided into three classes- one for Key Stage 1 and two for upper and lower Key Stage 2. The school has very good facilities for its size, with three modern classrooms, a hall and an administration block. Outside, there are good hard play areas and an adjoining playing field, which is used for sports and PE lessons. The school is well-equipped for ICT, with a pupil computer ratio well above the national minimum requirement. There are four internet-linked computers in each room, and the school has a good stock of peripherals, including digital cameras and projectors, 'roamer' programmable robots, scanner and printers. In addition to class room activities, It also offers a range of extra-curricular activities, including table-tennis, cross-country running, football, cricket and chess. Children in Years 2-6 go swimming to Louth Swimming Pool, for three six week sessions each year.
