Background:
Built in 1969, the school is housed in a one storey building which comprises a main building, brick annexe and mobile annexe. Extra-curricular activities include football, running, netball and rounders. Berkeley Junior is a member of the Junior School Sports Federation and has links with Scunthorpe United Football Club, who arrange training sessions. A mathematics club takes place twice a week outside school hours and an information and communication technology (ICT) suite was recently established. The 'supportive' Friends of Berkeley School (FABS) arrange social events and raise funds for school projects. Commenius links have been developed with schools in Spain and Italy. The school has nine classroom support assistants who work with pupils with special educational needs (SEN) on a one-to-one basis and local education authority support teachers are available in school two days a week.
