Background:

Caythorpe Primary School is situated in the heart of the village of Caythorpe in pleasant rural surroundings. It was first established in 1876 as the Caythorpe Board School and it originally had just two classrooms, a hall and outside dry toilets. In 1968 a substantial building programme began which resulted in the present school comprising five classrooms that can accommodate up to one hundred and forty pupils. A new building programme has recently been completed which provides an additional teaching and library area adjoining two existing classrooms and refurbishment of the entire cloakroom and toilet facilities. Caythorpe School is well resourced both inside and out. It has a large playground, an excellent playing field and an area of wild garden with a pond. Inside the school there is an excellent up-to-date computer suite comprising fifteen networked PCs with the additional facility of a large screen and projector. Each classroom also has one or two computers. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include football, netball, cricket, hockey and rugby. The school aims to offer a happy, safe and secure environment in a family atmosphere.
