Opened in 1846 as infant school; became primary school in 1958 and; moved to current building in 1968. Situated in traditional heart of village; offers broad and balanced curriculum 'so that every pupil may progress and succeed at their own level'. Range of clubs includes music, sports, stories and films. All clubs run by teachers or parents; a few activities, such as conker championships and friendship-bracelet-making, run by pupils. Encourages close links to commmunity through Friends of Deeping St James County Primary School; helps to raise funds for the school, also organises events that bring school, parents and community closer together. Investor in People status; Beacon status; Basic Skills Quality Mark; DfES achievement award.
