Background:
Market Deeping Primary was opened in 1970. In addition to the regular classrooms, there are rooms for small group work, special needs support, craft, music and technology. The grounds consist of a field, large playground, wildlife area and a parent carpark. A 'before and after school club' has its own premises within the school grounds. Teaching is based on a teamwork approach and children are often regrouped for English and maths to ensure that work is appropriately targeted. There is a 'range' of after school clubs, varying according to the season, including guitars, recorders, keyboards, pottery, craft, textiles, conservation, football and netball. Children have swimming lessons at the local pool for one term of each year and the school participates in local sporting and cultural activities. Although Market Deeping is not a church school, it has close links with local churches and it supports a range of charities. 'It has always been our belief that the task of a primary school is to provide the children with a happy and secure environment in which they can attain their full potential'.
