Background:

Founded in 1878, the 'happy and successful' school is situated in the small market town of Crowland, close to the Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire border. It serves families from the town and from the immediate neighbourhood of fenland villages. The school has been renovated and modernised in line with the town's growth, and now has two playing fields, a 'large' playground and a covered swimming pool. Curriculum work is carried out 'largely on an individual basis' to promote each pupils' progress and encourage them to think for themselves. First-hand experience is offered through day visits and residential visits for older children, and pupils can receive individual tuition in a musical instrument. The 'large' range of sporting activities available is put into practice in inter-school soccer, netball and rounders tournaments. Besides the 'many' extra curricular clubs, Year 6 pupils study first aid and take part in a cycling proficiency scheme. The school 'frequently' contributes to events in the community and local residents are often invited into the school. The school is 'justly proud' of its links with Europe through the twinning association, which include partnerships with schools in Sweden and Spain. Parents are 'always encouraged' to assist in the school.
