Background:

Old Leake Primary and Nursery School was built in 1973 to accommodate the growing needs of the community. When the primary school at Leverton was closed, Old Leake became the designated for Leverton children and many of them were taken on roll at Old Leake Primary School, thus making it a sizeable village school. In January 1994 the school became Grant Maintained and has been a foundation school since April 1999. The school has nine classrooms, a hall and a library, which have recently been decorated. There is a large sports field and a hard playing area, the foundation stage playground, which was remodelled together with designated outside areas. It has an adventure playground situated next to the nursery, which is used by the whole school throughout the year as it has an all weather surface. The school has a well-stocked central library, as well as quality modern resources in each classroom. ICT has a high priority in the school, and so it has a designated air-conditioned computer suite with 30 up to date computers. The school is very fortunate to have a very active fundraising group. Various social and fundraising events takes place each year, the highlights being the annual summer gala and themed ball. It provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities and clubs which include gymnastics, swimming, netball, cross-country, athletics, rugby, football, dance, cookery, science, computing, craft, revision, media work, investigation mathematics and art. The school aims to provide a caring community and as a foundation school it aims to encourage children in developing Christian principles, in school and in home life.
