Background:
Potterhanworth Primary is situated in the centre of an 'attractive' rural village. It was provided for the children of the village by a former rector, the Rev Ansom, in the nineteenth century, and has retained strong links with the local parish church and clergy. The buildings are a mixture of Victorian and modern, and although at present temporary mobile classrooms are used, there are plans for two new classrooms to be built as an extension to the school in the near future. Recent extra-curricular activities include football, rugby, cricket, netball, chess, athletics, music, computers, skittleball and art. The headteacher is responsible for overseeing special educational needs (SEN) provision. Support is provided in class by learning assistants and the school works very closely with various external agencies such as educational psychologists and speech and language therapists.
