Background:

Walcott Primary School has three classes, with 76 children on roll. Most children who attend the school live in the village, although a significant minority choose to come from the surrounding area. The school building is Victorian, but it has been extended and modernised. In the main building there are two classrooms and an ICT resource room that has just been equipped with new networked PCs. A mobile classroom was introduced to the site several years ago. The school has a playground with netball court, a sports field and an environmental area with a pond and a wide variety of trees. To encourage children's play during break, the school has a dedicated lunchtime games organiser whose sole responsibility is to organise games for children to play.The school adds to the national curriculum with special weeks such as its recent 'African week'. A wide variety of after school clubs are held on Friday afternoon.
