Background:
Opened in 1966, Leys Farm Junior serves the western area of Bottesford, which lies to the south of Scunthorpe. There are eight classrooms on two floors, a large hall, administrative area, large playground and playing fields. Each classroom features computers linked to the internet. In addition to the school's 'high academic achievements, the school is proud of the creative work produced by the children. The emphasis 'is and always has been, on a broad curriculum which has the strength of high standards in English and mathematics'. There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including sports, chess, computers, maths and dance. Pupils are encouraged to raise funds for charities such as the Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund.
